In 1981 the academic journal Schede Medievali. Rassegna dell'Officina di Studi Medievali was founded. It is directed by Diego Ciccarelli and at present comes out yearly. With a strong interdisciplinary approach it brings together essays and studies, critiques and critical notes that are the fruit of the work of OSM and its collaborators. Each annual issue reaches 350-400 pages.; in 2007 OSM launched a new journal, Medieval Sophia. Studi e ricerche sul sapevi medievali, an e-review appearing every six months (online in July and December), rich in thematic sections and Italian and overseas collaborations; with this new initiative OSM wants to open up to the frontiers of online publishing and electronic diffusion of academic research (www.mediaevalsophia.it).
Since 1999 OSM has also been a publishing company regularly enrolled in the Chamber of Commerce, the Court and the Italian National Press and Publishing Register. As such it also holds the copyright of some series and collaborates with different Italian and foreign publishing companies (Bompiani, Brepols Publishers, Jaca Book, Olschki, Levante Editore, etc.).
The publishing commitment of OSM largely aims to publish the results of the cultural projects and the research activities promoted both within it and thanks to the big external academic collaborations.
